E-commerce Development

Building and extending online stores: platform choice made honestly, checkout treated as the priority, and integrations to the systems that actually fulfil the orders.

Überblick

Most e-commerce projects are decided by the platform choice, and most platform choices are made for the wrong reasons. The question is not which platform is most capable; it is which one handles your specific awkwardness — your catalogue structure, your tax situation, your fulfilment process — with the least custom work.

After that, the work concentrates in two places: the checkout, where money is lost in single-digit percentages that compound enormously, and the integrations to inventory, ERP and shipping, which is where the timeline actually goes.

Für wen das gedacht ist

  • Companies outgrowing their current platform
  • Retailers whose checkout loses a large share of started orders
  • Businesses whose store and stock system disagree with each other

Unser Vorgehen bei E-commerce Development

Die konkreten Arbeitspakete eines typischen Projekts. Der Umfang steht vorab fest, nichts davon taucht später als Überraschung auf der Rechnung auf.

  • Platform selection

Hosted, open source or headless, chosen against your catalogue, volume and the integrations you cannot avoid.

  • Catalogue and merchandising

Product structure, variants and search that work at your catalogue's actual size and complexity, not at demo size.

  • Checkout build

The highest-value surface in the store. Fewer steps, guest checkout, correct payment methods per market, and no surprises about cost late in the flow.

  • Systems integration

Inventory, ERP, shipping and accounting. Usually the largest part of the timeline and the part most often underestimated.

  • Performance

Speed on category and product pages, which affects both conversion and how much of the catalogue gets indexed.

  • Migration

Products, customers, orders and URLs moved with redirects mapped, so the replatform does not cost you organic traffic.

Ablauf

Vom ersten Gespräch zum gemessenen Ergebnis

Immer dieselbe Reihenfolge, damit Sie wissen, was als Nächstes kommt.

  1. Assess

Catalogue, volume, integrations and the specific things your business does that most platforms handle badly.

  2. Choose and design

Platform decision with the reasoning written down, then design of the storefront and checkout.

  3. Build and integrate

Store build with the integrations started early rather than left to the end where they normally break the timeline.

  4. Migrate and launch

Data migration, redirect mapping, a soft launch where possible, then close monitoring of orders and errors.

Warum es sich lohnt

Ergebnisse statt Aktenordner

Ein Stapel Dokumente ist kein Fortschritt. Das hier sind die Veränderungen, die die Arbeit bewirken soll.

  • A checkout that converts

Checkout work has the highest return of any change to a store, because it applies to every customer who already decided to buy.

  • Stock that matches reality

Proper integration removes overselling and the support cost that follows it.

  • A platform that fits

Choosing against your actual constraints avoids years of custom work fighting the tool.

  • Rankings kept through the move

Migration done with redirects mapped is what separates a quiet replatform from a lost quarter.

Fragen

Häufige Fragen zu E-commerce Development

Was Kundinnen und Kunden fragen, bevor sie sich melden. Fehlt Ihre Frage, stellen Sie sie uns direkt.

Which e-commerce platform should we use?

For most businesses under a certain complexity, a hosted platform is the right answer and custom builds are a mistake. Headless becomes worthwhile when you have unusual catalogue logic, several sales channels, or content and commerce that need to be deeply intertwined. We recommend against headless more often than for it.

How is this different from online shop development?

This page is the engineering build: platform, integrations and migration. Online shop development in our e-commerce category is the commercial side, closer to merchandising and conversion. Many projects need both, and they are usually sequenced with this one first.

How long does a replatform take?

Three to six months for most mid-sized stores. Integrations drive the timeline far more than the storefront does, and a catalogue that needs restructuring adds significantly.

Will we lose search traffic when we migrate?

Not if redirects are mapped properly before launch and URL structure is preserved where sensible. Traffic loss after a replatform is nearly always a redirect problem, and it is entirely preventable.
